A Pinot Noir mutation, which produces soft, gently perfumed wines with more substance and colour than most whites. Rich and full-bodied yet still a dry wine with fine flavours of quince and William pears. Hand picked as with all our wines with an extremely low yield per vine.
It all started with Hans’ being so picky about what we pick and when we pick it... Our single vineyard is made up of a variety of different soils (or rather free-draining stones and gravels…) all of alluvial origin resulting in different ripening times. The grapes for this wine were picked later than their individual varieties ensuring luscious fruit with intense flavours. The challenge for Hans to experiment by fermenting them together was too much for him to resist and the result truly makes it the “Heavenly Seven”. Glorious, mighty, robust, intense but with the elegance and classiness Hans’ wines are so famous for.
This special Sauvignon Blanc was created in the style of the great white wines of Bordeaux. Produced in very limited quantities, this is an exuberant white with aromas of creamy white fruits, mango and vanilla spice on the rich, full bodied palate. A backbone of zesty acidity balances the wine and adds finesse. Powerful yet delicate with a lingering finish.
Our single estate hand picked Sauvignon Blanc is purposefully picked late from very low yields and more reminiscent of a white Bordeaux than the typical Marlborough Savvy. A frangipani and tropical fruit scented nose leads on to a rich, creamy palate with notes of almonds, passionfruit and lemon verbena and a dry, pure finish. Beautifully ripe, yet vividly fresh with the richness, depth and structure promising longevity.
The 2008 Chardonnay was crafted from a purposely tiny yield of just 800g per vine. Handpicked the wine displays tremendous concentrated, ripe fruit flavours balanced by a sturdy structure, rich texture and fine French oak complexities.
The 2008 Viognier has retained the deep yellow colour of the ripe grapes and offers a heady wine with rich aromas and flavours of apricot, peach and tropical flowers. Full-bodied with significant weight and texture, balanced by acidity that provides a remarkable backbone to the wine.
A vineyard selection of the best block of that particular vintage. Richly coloured in the glass with inviting aromas of ripe blackberry, raspberry and kirsch. The palate is full-bodied with a luscious, velvety texture, ripe dark cherry fruit aromas with undertones of cigar smoke and well-balanced acidity. Intense, elegant and complex.
A vibrant and alluring Pinot with flavours of red berries like wild strawberries and raspberries. The flavours are embraced by a beautiful acidity and ripe tannins. An enticing, charming and delicate Pinot Noir with a deep and long finish. It’s an exceptionally complex and elegant wine that will age gracefully over the next 10 years.
Handpicked at only 500g per vine from the warm, sandy, gravely soil of our single vineyard, the grapes benefitted from a very long ripening period and warm summer – both ideal conditions to ensure great complexity and full physiological ripeness.
This velvety, dark-chocolaty Pomerol-blend is lavishly rich yet elegant with great finesse and suppleness. Wonderful aromatic fruit flavours of sweet dark berries with hints of spices, liquorice, fresh hay and cedar add to the great length. Full-bodied with silky tannins and fine acidity, this wine is a remarkable candidate for extended cellaring.
We picked the 2007 from very low yields that resulted in amazingly high concentration levels and fantastic flavours. It’s a full-bodied and deep dark cherry coloured wine bursting with power, concentration and texture with a heady nose, displaying flavours of ripe black berries underpinned by liquorish and savoury overtones. This is an earthy complex blend of intense ripe fruit enveloped by fine tannins. A voluptuous wine which will age gracefully over the next decade.
