Vigneron

Title: Viticulturist / Winemaker - Assistant to Hans Herzog

Contract: Permanent, or seasonal from October to end of April, full-time Monday to Friday.

Join our small, dedicated team at Hans Herzog Estate as a hands-on Vigneron and embark on an exciting journey in the world of artisan wine growing. We are seeking an individual with excellent experience in tractor driving, who is eager to play a hands-on role in creating some of New Zealand’s finest wines.

You will handle all day-to-day operations in our single estate vineyard with the opportunity to contribute to the winemaking process in our fully equipped winery, with its own bottling and labelling equipment.

Key tasks include:

  • Conducting tractor operations such as cultivating, under-vine weeding, mulching, moving, spraying, canopy trimming and leaf plucking.
  • Managing canopy, including hand-pruning, vine training, and netting the vineyard.
  • Assisting with all harvest activities in the vineyard and winery.
  • Contributing to all aspects of the winemaking process.

Our ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in their work, has good physical strength and endurance, and enjoys working outdoors. Strong machinery operation skills and the ability to work independently are crucial. A positive "can do" attitude is essential to thrive in our team.

At Hans Herzog Estate, our focus is on creating exceptional, artisanal wines rather than financial gain. If you share our passion for winegrowing and want to be part of a team that embodies that spirit, we invite you to get in touch.

Applicants must be New Zealand residents or eligible for a work visa. To apply, please email your application including references to Therese Herzog at info@herzog.co.nz.
