98-point rare Nebbiolo, the legendary grape of Barolo. Remarkable depth, refined tannins and exceptional structure.

Vintage 2019+

Nebbiolo, the noble heritage grape of Piedmont - home to Barolo and Barbaresco - is notoriously exacting in where it will truly thrive. Early to bud and late to ripen, it demands both patience and precision, often yielding sparingly and unevenly.

Since 1997, we have carefully selected buds from our healthiest, best-performing Nebbiolo vines and grafted them onto established rootstock, dedicating prime vineyard sites to this remarkable variety. These warm, sandy gravel soils, interwoven with fine silt and clay, provide the structure and balance Nebbiolo requires to fully express its character.

The 2019 vintage reflects this uncompromising approach. Handpicked from exceptionally low yields of around 500g per vine, it is a wine of quiet stature, depth and longevity, confidently standing alongside the great expressions of Barolo and Barbaresco.

Hans' Winemaking Comments+

Extended cold soak, followed by a slow natural fermentation and long post-fermentation maceration, built structure and refined tannins.

Aged for five years in seasoned French puncheon and a further two years in bottle, allowing the wine to settle into balance and quiet harmony.

Unfined. Unfiltered. Purely natural.

Tasting Notes+

A wine that could well define Nebbiolo at its most captivating. Beautifully poised, with lifted floral notes and fine red fruits. The palate is silky yet structured, its polished tannins carrying layers of cherry, plum, wild herbs and a touch of truffle. Already approachable, yet destined to evolve with the grace of a fine Barolo or Barbaresco.

"The Swiss couple make wonderful handmade reds and whites from an array of grapes, from Viognier to Nebbiolo. In fact, the barrel of Nebbiolo they make is like something from the best of Barolo. Unfortunately, they are tiny production." -James Suckling

Industry Reviews+

James Suckling - 98 points

"So complex and layered with aromas of dark cherries, dried rose petals, tar, dark chocolate, river stones and mahogany. The palate is tightly wound and seamless with the tannins integrating perfectly, melting on the palate. There are no angles on the perfectly shaped and pure palate, coming from 5 years aging in 500-liter puncheons before bottle. Almost perfect. Drink or hold." - March 2025 JS
