Hans Herzog Estate - Marlborough Arneis

Arneis 2025

Regular price $51.00 Sale

A rare expression of Arneis, balancing generous texture with freshness and elegance.
Arneis, the noble white grape of Piedmont, reaches its finest expression in the Roero hills, where sandy, gravel-rich soils lend structure and a distinctive, refined minerality. Our Arneis thrives on similarly sandy, gravelly soils, providing an ideal foundation for the variety to shine.

Vintage 2025+

A seamless season, matched by uncompromising vineyard work, has yielded a vintage of remarkable purity and precision. Naturally low yields produced small, vibrant berries with impressive concentration and lifted aromatics. Slow, even ripening allowed us to harvest at perfect balance. The wine shows striking clarity and energy, layered with depth and a quiet, restrained power that sets this vintage among our most distinguished.

Hans' Winemaking Comments+

To capture the delicate character of the fruit, I began with a brief cold soak to draw gentle flavour from the skins. Naturally fermented with indigenous yeast with regular lees stirring to build texture and complexity.

True to my philosophy of minimal intervention, the wine was bottled unfined, unstabilised, and with only light filtration. The result is a pure, authentic expression of Arneis, layered, elegant, and driven by both place and precision.

Tasting Notes+

A refined and quietly powerful expression, balancing freshness with subtle texture and depth. It opens with lifted citrus and orchard fruit, underscored by delicate floral notes. The palate is poised and mineral-driven, with fine tension and an elegant structure. Gentle lees work and barrel maturation bring a discreet roundness, leading to a long, composed finish.
