Montepulciano, our iconic Italian Stallion exudes complexity and strength. Yields are kept extremely low to achieve perfect physiological ripeness for natural concentration, complexity and an impressive flavour profile that expresses the soul of Hans’ winegrowing. Real elegance, power, sumptuousness, immensity, and emotion is transmitted by tasting this nectar.

Vintage 2012+

Our Montepulciano is produced from extremely low yields of 700g per vine resulting in amazingly high concentration levels. The 2012 vintage produced a full-bodied, deep ruby coloured wine showcasing a rich wild berry bouquet.

Hans' Winemaking Comments+

After long, wild yeast fermentation to enhance the dark colour and intense flavours, the wine was transferred and subsequently aged for 30 months in partly new French oak barrels, on its fine lees. Bottled without fining or filtration to retain the beautiful aromas and flavours.

Tasting Notes +

An elegant powerhouse! A heady nose, displaying aromas of juicy boysenberry and blackberry, with veltey dark chilli chocolate and a hint of toasted vanilla on the palate. A complex blend of intense ripe fruit enveloped by fine tannins. Voluptuous and smoky with a lingering finish.
