Vintage 2002+
Handpicked at only 500g yield per vine and grown on warm, sandy, gravely soils the grapes benefit from a very long ripening period and warm summer – both ideal conditions to ensure great complexity of flavour and full physiological ripeness.
Hans' Winemaking Comments+
A long fermentation ensured optimum extraction and voluptuous texture before the must was gently pressed into French barriques (50% new) for the malolactic fermentation. No costs have been spared and like a first growth Bordeaux, our ‘Spirit’ enjoys up to 2.5 years of barrel. This library wine was bottle-aged under perfect conditions in the library section of our temperature controlled barrel hall.
Original Tasting Notes+
This velvety, dark-chocolaty Pomerol-blend is lavishly rich yet elegant with great finesse and suppleness. Heady aromatic flavours of sweet dark berries with hints of spices, liquorice and cedar add to the great length. Full bodied with silky tannins.
