Totally seductive! Spain’s noble grape makes for full-bodied and age worthy wines. Sweet, dark fruit like black cherries with a whiff of violet and rose unfold into an opulent but elegant, velvety palate. A highly complex and mouth-watering wine equal to a ‘Reserva’ quality (total of 3 years ageing). Great structure and a long, lush finish to enjoy for many years to come.
Vintage 2014+
A long warm ripening season ended in a beautiful Indian summer perfect for that grape variety from Northern Spain.
Hans' Winemaking Comments+
After a long cold soak to extract the beneficial compounds from skin and seeds I let the grapes go through a natural fermentation for a few weeks. An additional maceration period after fermentation extracted the now soft and sweet tannins helping to prepare the young wine for a long and healthy live. After gentle pressing the young wine matured for 30 month in a partly new French oak barriques. With more than a year of additional bottle ageing at perfect temperature in our barrel hall this would equal to a ‘Reserva’ quality (total of 3 years ageing). No fining. No filtration. Purely natural.
Original Tasting Notes+
The scent of juicy ripe dark fruit aromas unfold into a warm spicy sensation. The palate then surprises with a fine acidity and silky tannins enhanced by flavours of rich dark chocolate and luscious sweet, blackberries. A highly complex and mouth watering wine with a lingering finish who will age gracefully for many years to come.
